Search Engine Rank Tool

October 27th, 2006

Any one who is trying to establish a web presence has asked themselves, “I wonder how my site ranks compared to the others.”

Now it’s easier than ever to find the answer.

Recently I was sent an artlice on search engine optimization. The article pointed to the following website: www.webuildpages.com/cool-seo-tool

Simply click on the above link and you will be taken to a page that allows you to enter your website URL and the keyword you are curious about. After you press enter it will tell you how your website ranks in Yahoo and MSN search engines, the number of indexed pages, the number of keyword uses, etc…

When attempting to improve your keyword rank it can be a slow process. You initiate improvements and then have to wait days/weeks to see a change in rank. Now you can get feed back quicker as to how your page ranks compared to the others.

Not only is this a great resource…it’s free.

All the best,

Jason C. Steinle

Keywords Head-to-Head

May 15th, 2006

Here is a web resource for comparing keywords head-to-head.

www.onfocus.com/googlesmak/down.asp

Just click on the above link and then enter the two keywords you are comparing.

In seconds it will show you which keyword appears in more pages across the internet.

This is valuable information for anyone deciding on which keywords to target for their website.

All the best,

Jason C. Steinle

Load ‘em up…move ‘em out

February 20th, 2006

Do you ever use the shopping baskets at the grocery store?

They’re great if you want to run in and grab a few items without trying to juggling a bunch of items on your way to the checkout.

I’ve noticed a trend over the past years. The baskets are getting bigger and bigger.

Check out these pictures taken from my local grocery store. Over the past two years as they have received new baskets they haven’t thrown out the old ones. As a result there are four generations of baskets at the store.

Each new generation of basket is taller, wider and longer the the last. The new ones don’t stack inside the old ones.

It makes sense…from the store’s perspective. The bigger the basket…the more food a customer can put inside…the more they spend.

Yet there is a limit. The new baskets are so large that I’ve noticed people struggling to carry the bulging baskets around the store. They walk around with the basket bouncing off of their hip.

I though that I had surely seen the end of the growing basket size until this week.

The store now has new shopping cart like containers built for the baskets. Instead of a bulky shopping cart these new containers are sleeker and easier to push. All you have to do is place your basket on top and off you go.

Whether it’s baskets at the grocery store, loaders at Costco, or additional book recommendations upon checking out at Amazon.com companies are selling us more and more during a single visit.

Is this a good thing…or bad? Let me know your thoughts. info@jasonsteinle.com

Lady at the booth

January 22nd, 2006

As I was walking through the exhibitor area at a recent conference I saw this lady sitting at her booth with her head buried in a book. It was the first day of the conference and hundreds of people were walking around the exhibit hall.
With the exception of her booth all the other vendors were actively greeting and talking to every person walking by. As a result they had lines of people waiting to have their questions answered. Yet in the midst of all this activity she continued to read her book without making eye contact or even acknowledging people as they passed.

Having set up a similar booth many times in my life, I was curious what she was reading that took precedence over the potential customers milling around. As I approached closer I saw for the first time the title of the book she was reading– Every Business is a Growth Business: How Your Company Can Prosper Year After Year.

It struck me. How often do we continuing preparing to take action when the time for action is upon us. No amount of reading would have been as beneficial to the woman as simply taking action and talking to the customers walking around.

Preparing can save you time, but it can also become a form of inaction. Sometimes the best way to learn is by simply starting

“Just open the Yellow Pages and it’s full of places where you and I can go to nip, tuck, tan, botox, and bleach,“ 36-year-old Amanda told me. “The irony is when I think back to the people who’ve really made an impression on my life, I don’t remember so much what they looked like, but rather how I felt when I was around them.”Like Amanda, have you ever wondered, “Why are there certain people you just can’t wait to see or take a call from, whereas others you dodge and let their calls go straight to voice mail?”

I’ve observed that the most popular people I meet are those who are also the most generous. From the internationally known authors, musicians, and business leaders I’ve intervewed to our own hometown heroes, they all seem to live by the creed that you can have anything in this world you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.

Take Eleanor Riter of Evergreen. If she’s not around town taking care of children at the daycare or writing letters to friends, she may be on a mission trip to Australia, Turkey, or Mexico. Eleanor is so liked that her pastor once commented, “If the Pope and Eleanor were on stage, people may ask, ‘Who’s that man up there with Eleanor?’”

Why is Eleanor so admired? Because she is genuinely interested in other people. She shares a part of herself and her experience with each person she meets.

Recently, I asked a radio show guest the secret to his popularity and business success. “It’s an old saying,” he said, “but I’ll tell it to you, because if you figure this out quicker than slower you’re going to make a much better life.”

“You will accomplish more in the next two months developing a sincere interest in two people than you will accomplish in the next two years trying to get two people interested in you.”

“Quit selling yourself and learn how to like and help other people. You want raving fans, you become a raving fan of another person. That’s where you’ll make a difference.”

Want to make a difference and be remembered? Close the Yellow Pages and open your life to other people.
